JCYTNNS is BACK!!!!!
Believe it or not, I have not disappeared off the face of the Earth. Well, Detroit may seem like it, but not completely. Yes, it's true: Detroit has become home... Metro Detroit to be more specific.
I am ashamed of how long it has been since I last post on Juicy Tannins, but now seeking the missing pieces in my life, I now know the answer: back to the bottle!! [That sounds... terrible... well, wonderful, actually... c'est la vie.] I miss wine so much! Not that I have stopped enjoying, but I have neglected my true passion of sampling, savoring, analyzing, and giving life to its descriptions, values, and voice.
So what have I been up to the last few months? Since my Beau Vigne post back in March (yes, March!), my wife Erica was offered a position back in Michigan, in the Metro Detroit area as an Event Manager for a prestigious, growing, and intense event production company. It was a great step in the advancement of her career, but let's not forget one important thing... my career? Well, to sweeten the deal, I was offered a position in the same company to enhance my sales experience, with the ultimate goal of transitioning into the wine sales industry. We decided to take a risk, and see where it took us.
However, this decision would put my one true passion on the back-burner. And has. But it is time to be revived, and what better way to do that than make Juicy Tannins a part of me, where ever I go? And so...

I love it!! It was this or ELITIST, but this was better, and ELITIST was already taken. It was a win-win. A Hummer would have squashed my little Honda Fit after they saw a license plate more appropriate for their vehicle. Anyway, back to JCYTNNS... how frickin' cool is that?! I smile every time I see it. I have also, slowly, been bringing the "business plan" full-circle. I have converted my primary email address to Ben@JuicyTannins.com; and I had fun creating my email signature:

I have some new ideas for the website, too. Including guest authors, contests, and more reader interaction. I have been keeping up on reading wine magazines, wine books, and of course, drinking fantastic wine. Every year, I play in a fundraising golf tournament with my father. This year, I was told our new partner in the foursome enjoys fine wine. I decided to bring a bottle... or three. And of course, I had to purchase some golf course-safe wine glasses... acrylic picnic goblets.
Appropriate, don't you think? Well, I didn't get a picture of the first... Coudoulet de Beaucastel 1998. I found it in a wine shop in West Bloomfield on the "Last Bottle" shelf for an amazing price... it was worth the risk. The second, I received as a goodbye gift from one of my wine distributors in Chicago... Sbragia Cabernet 2006... OMG! It was AMAZING!!!
The last I also purchased at the wine shop... price worth the risk, but unfortunately past due. The thing is though, after two bottles of wine (shared between me and my golf partner, of course)... and perhaps, a flask of scotch... I knew it was past due... but didn't care. A 1991 Chateau Haut Batailles Pauillac. Yeah, I know... I like to be eccentric, even on the golf course. It was just too cool to pass up for the price.
I feel very good about this post... it's the comeback post of a hiatus too long hiatus-ed. Despite my busy schedule, I need to get back on the Juicy Tannins wagon, and my goal is to post at least once per week. I think a celebration is in order... wink, wink... [perhaps it's already in the works!!]. And a pre-party post may be coming up soon! And most importantly, if you see the JCYTNNS-mobile out and about, give me a shout on the blog! Best wishes everyone!
